Today Gender Concerns International Director Sabra Bano will be speaking at the event organized by ACEEEO to honor and celebrate Global Elections Day.

Every year on the first Thursday of February we celebrate our most important democratic institution, elections. To mark this day, Gender Concerns International is fully participating by promoting the work, vision and efforts of international election observation professionals, system supporters and management bodies. Through its GEOM (Gender Election Observation Mission) instrument, the organisation has extensive International experience in election observation through gender lens having conducted GEOMs in countries including Pakistan (2008 and 2013), Tunisia (2011 and 2014), Libya (2012), Myanmar (2015), Morocco (2011, 2015 and 2016) and The Netherlands (2017, 2021).

The profound change making impact of these GEOMs has influenced the process of reform at the level of national institutions and in shaping the direction of the public discourse on women`s political participation, including The Netherlands.
