Afghanistan: Mahbouba Seraj – Founding member of our partner organisation – nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

Congratulations, Dear Mahbouba Seraj, a well-deserved and best-earned nomination!

This award is a tribute to Ms. Seraj`s personal struggle as well as a recognition for the work of our partner Afghan Women’s Network, in protecting and promoting the basic human rights of women in Afghanistan, especially in the area of political participation, women, peace and security and education.

Gender Concerns International has actively worked in Afghanistan since 2005. In 2009 it organized a groundbreaking regional conference in Kabul.

Since then, together with international community we continue to support women in Afghanistan.

In collaboration with Afghan organisations we have facilitated, women representatives to attend national and regional conferences, organized advocacy trainings, and lobbied to keep Afghan women on the international agenda.
