UN CSW Side and Parallel Event

Gender Concerns International is pleased to host one Parallel Event and one Side Event during CSW60 in New York to highlight the importance of the provision of sustainable support to women’s political participation and improved commitment to female leadership in Afghanistan.

With the withdrawal of the international community from Afghanistan, the general peace and security situation is deteriorating rapidly. Women- and human rights defenders fear that the gains of the past decade and a half might be lost if they are not protected. At the CSW60, Gender Concerns aim to ensure that the concerns of Afghan women is taken into account by the international community. The events brings forward a collective voice of Afghan women and civil society organisations to have a dialogue with national and international stakeholders. The events will be connected to the Bayan programme, which is carried out by Gender Concerns together with Oxfam Novib and Cordaid. Bayan aims to increase public support for inclusive security, inclusive peace building and political participation.

Gender Concerns International and the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations look forward to discuss these, and other important issues with our distinguished panelists and the CSW60.
