Morocco Enters Polls: Parliamentary Elections 7th October

GEOM Morocco 2016 Will Observe Elections

On the gracious invitation of the National Council of Human Rights (CNDH), Gender Concerns International will launch its election observation mission GEOM Morocco 2016.

Gender Election Observation Mission (GEOM) will be comprised of a mainly female team of expert international observers on a short term mission to observe and report the parliamentary elections and to make recommendations aiming to contribute to a gender-focused electoral reform process in Morocco.

GEOM will observe the Moroccan election from a distinct gender perspective. Upcoming parliamentary elections are the second election to take place in Morocco after the 2011 adoption of constitutional amendments beckoning an ongoing process of democratization in Morocco.

The mission will assess women's democratic participation at various levels and in different capacities. GEOM 2016 is a follow-up of similar missions conducted in Morocco during Regional and Municipal Elections held in 2015, as well as Parliamentary Elections in 2011.
