Gender Concerns Organises Meeting between Libyan Activists and EU

The day after International Women’s Day, Gender Concerns International organised a meeting between Ms. Suzanne Kodsi, Head of Operations of the European Union in Libya, and a group of Libyan activists, including former members of the first General National Congress and a senior civil servant, as part of their visit to Tunis, to allow the EU to hear first-hand of the troubles which the people of Libya encounter every day.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the views of Libyans and of Europeans regarding a solution to the conflict and a prosperous future of the country. Although there was already a moment to exchange views with delegates from the Member States on International Women’s Day, this was an open discussion which allowed the participants to express their views in a more direct way and have a conversation from which both sides left more informed.
