The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action is an important step in the fight for gender equality. Therefore, it is essential to ensure participation from all levels of society. By limiting participation only to New York based organisations, it will significantly exclude a wide range of global civil society organisations, women's organisations, ministries, and international organisations. This eliminates the credibility of this Fourth World Conference on Women, as the majority of participants will not be able to have a voice in the conversation and decision-making process.
We cannot let the most important global event for gender equality go ahead without us.
Therefore, Gender Concerns International urges the 64th Commission on the Status of Women not to have the conference until the presence of everyone involved can be ensured. Join us in solidarity with global women's organisations demanding the postponement of #CSW64.
