Gender Concerns International remains committed to advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda and upholding the principles of UNSCR 1325 through its long-term engagement with the Dutch National Action Plan. Our dedication is reflected in the development of the Gender Election Observation Mission (GEOM) tool, which promotes gender equality at the legislative level. Through assessment missions, GCI has consistently addressed the need to improve gender electoral parity through gender-balanced candidate lists in Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Sweden, and other countries.
As we mark the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325 this October, we are proud to continue supporting initiatives and join global efforts to strengthen women’s participation and protection under this framework. In this spirit, Gender Concerns International has co-signed the Open Letter by the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security to the Permanent Representatives to the United Nations ahead of the annual Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security.
