President Pushes for Parliamentary Elections to Be Held at Earliest Possible Date

Under Polish law, the election must be held between Oct. 13 and Nov. 10, with the exact day chosen by the president. On Polsat News Television last Friday President Duda stated he would prefer Oct. 13 for the next parliamentary election, with his ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party expected to win. PiS is projected to attract 41.7% of the vote according to an IBRIS poll. Currently women only constitute 28% of parliamentarians in the Polish Parliament. Gender Concerns International is following developments closely and supports the need for more female candidates and politicians in the Polish government.
