The Great Lakes Region ( Congo , Rwanda , Uganda and Burundi ) is infamous for the genocide in Rwanda in 1994, the conflicts in Burundi and between Rwanda and Congo , and the systematic raping of women in the Congo war zone. The cost off this long history of violence is the life of 4 million people. It also left a culture of fear and mistrust between different groups and between the countries. Peace building is an urgent requirement.
