Voices ring out at Marboua event in Libya

Gender Concerns Libya held an event at the organisation's political cafe in Tripoli last Thursday, Feb. 6. The Marboua Dialogue on 'Women in the Constitution making, why vote for them?' was well received in the community and media.

More than 30 participants actively shared their views on organising politically and socially. Three candidates for the upcoming constitution committee, a GNC member, prominent lawyers, university professors and civil society activists were present. Discussions included women's place in the Arab Spring, embedded notions of male leadership, women's role in the constitution and in society as an equal half of the population.

The Dialogue was covered live on the Al-Jazeera Libya news network. Check back on our website and our Facebook page for possible video links to the event.
