​Ukrainians go to the polls for the second round of Presidential elections

On Sunday 21st April Ukrainians will cast their ballots on the second round of the Presidential elections. The first round of 31st March ended in a stalemate with no candidate receiving above the required 50% of the votes cast.

Two candidates in the second round are the incumbent conservative President Petro Poroshenko and the young, liberal candidate Volodymyr Zelensky.

A poll held in the second week of April showed that 52% of the respondents would vote for Zelensky and 10% for Poroshenko with 19% of the respondents still undecided and 10% certain, that they are not going to vote. Another poll also showed that 48% of the respondents expect a clear improvement to the country’s situation following the coming Presidential elections.
