​Ukrainians go to the polls for the second round of Presidential elections

On Sunday 21^st April Ukrainians will cast their ballots on the second round of the Presidential elections. The first round of 31^st March ended in a stalemate with no candidate receiving above the required 50% of the votes cast.

Two candidates in the second round are the incumbent conservative President Petro Poroshenko and the young, liberal candidate Volodymyr Zelensky.

A poll held in the second week of April showed that 52% of the respondents would vote for Zelensky and 10% for Poroshenko with 19% of the respondents still undecided and 10% certain, that they are not going to vote. Another poll also showed that 48% of the respondents expect a clear improvement to the country’s situation following the coming Presidential elections.
