Gender Concerns International reactivates its Libya Office: Director Ms. Bano meets with key stakeholders in Tunis

Director Bano while preparing her visit to Tripoli is meeting with key stakeholders in Tunis as the organization reactivates its Libya Office in Tunis and looks into making operational its activities in Libya.

This morning she paid a visit to the EU Libya Office and met with H.E Ambassador for the EU-Delegation to Libya Ms. Muscheidt and her team. Later in the day she visited UNSMIL and met with Mr. Daniel Stroux, the Chief Electoral Advisor, and the United Nations Electoral Support Team (UNEST).

With elections coming up in Libya, the organization is thrilled to follow-up on our prior gender and development work in the country.

Gender Concerns International observed the 2012 Elections as well as the elections of the Constitutional Draft Assembly from a gender perspective, established the Marboua Political Café, and facilitated the establishment of the Women for Democratic Transformation (WDT) Platform, as well as supporting Libyan women’s organisations in lobbying for women’s constitutional rights through the development of the Gender Sensitive Constitution.
