A Tribute to Asma Jahangir, a Prominent Pakistani Human Rights Defender

On February 11th 2018, Ms. Asma Jahangir, one of Pakistan’s most prominent human rights activists, tragically passed away. Gender Concerns International is deeply saddened by this news. The world has lost one of its greatest human rights proponents.

Ms. Jahangir’s courage and commitment to human rights has been internationally recognized through numerous awards, including the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Award, which she accepted in the Netherlands in 2010. In conjunction with the Award Ceremony, Gender Concerns International is honored to have had the opportunity to organize an exclusive session with Ms. Jahangir to discuss the human rights situation of women in Pakistan. Ms. Jahangir will remain a great source of inspiration to the organization in our continued work to promote human rights and gender equality globally.
