Meet the brave women of Afghanistan

Kabul: Women form an integral part of Afghanistan armed forces. The army started recruiting females as special force commandoes in its armed forces.

Since their inclusion in 2011, women have been a part of active combat, including night raids.

Night missions are considered the most dangerous operations because they involve raiding the homes of suspected Taliban insurgents under the cover of darkness and searching the inhabitants, quoted Dailymail.

The need for women to join the elite division raised because it was considered controversial for male soldiers to search female afghans in their homes.

However, life is not easy for these brave young women. They have to fight death on and off the battlefield. The women commandos face death threat because work is outside the cultural norms of Afghanistan.

But, what has kept them going is the support of their families.

The commandoes are required to wear sunglasses and scarves to protect their identities.

These are the bravest women in the country and belongs to a group of 1,000 other member of the Afghan army, says Mahbouba Seraj, an executive board member at the Afghan Women’s Network.
