Kenyan Election: Rising Violence and Abuse against Female Candidates

An increase in female candidacy has not declined the incidents of ElectoralGBV against women in Kenya ahead of 9th August Elections.

Social Media abuse includes sexism, misogyny, and humiliating imagery. Sexualizing and insulting their campaigning activities is becoming a norm.

We hope that will not deter female candidates from winning in great numbers in upcoming elections.
