Congratulations Ms. Bouaida: Morocco Elects Its First Female President in the Region

On July 5th, Mbarka Bouaida, a successful female politician, was elected president of the Morocco’s southeast region Guelmim-Oued Noun. Ms. Bouaida`s victory is historic marking her as the first woman to be a regional leader in Morocco. Her party, National Rally of Independents, defined her election as “historic”. Ms. Bouaida has been the Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries since 2017. Following the elections, she announced her commitment to “starting a new era” in the region.
